A GIFT TO BLESS YOU
When I was a young man, I had a dream of becoming an acoustic guitar, singer/songwriter in the genre of James Taylor, or John Michael Talbot. I even wrote and performed an original song for my graduation, class of ’75. Music was in my blood. I came to follow Christ in a powerful and profound way in 1975. I soon discovered God had a different, divine calling for my life, far greater than the one I had envisioned as a young man. As I began my journey with Jesus, I would often take out my guitar and sing to God. The very first song I wrote was a song I called The 23rd. This Psalm has had great meaning in my life for 50 years. I’ve literally sung it hundreds of times. It has calmed and comforted me through many dark, difficult moments in my life. I would often go into my little childrens room at night to play and sing this song to them as they fell asleep. It was the first song I taught my sons on the guitar, and the first song one of my daughters sang as a solo when she was 15, giving it her own “Lauren Hill vibe.” It has profound meaning to our family.
Recently, my son Jeromy, did a special rendition of this song. While staying true to the original, he added his own unique elements. My wife and I found it so comforting and a great blessing to our souls. I wanted to share it with all of you today as a gift from me to you. He plays and sings all the parts. May God use it to minister to your soul, reminding you in the troubled times we live, of these timeless, unchanging realities.
