A GIFT FOR GOD THIS CHRISTMAS
It’s Christmas. I’m sure you have everything in its place, the tree is all decorated, the lights are aglow, the kids are all rising, eager to tear open their gifts. I’m sure every parent was quite careful not to forget the gifts that were requested by your children. You looked high and low, bought with great care, wrapped them with love, and placed them under the tree, in eager anticipation of watching their faces light up when they opened their gifts.
You probably bought your spouse something special, something you know they’ve wanted or something that would have great meaning to them.
But let me ask you a question you may have never been asked before, or never even considered. What will you give God this Christmas? What gift will you present to the Lord who gave you everything? Do you imagine God has everything he wants, so there is no worthy gift to give?
Consider these possible gifts to bring! A heart more fully committed to Jesus Christ. Or what about things you have been holding back from God. Your time? Your talents? Your treasure? Maybe there’s something in your life God has been urging you to repent in, will you give that to God? How about your very life itself, I mean all of it, your body, mind, heart and soul, as a living sacrifice to God to use for His honor and glory? How about your overflowing thanks and gratitude for everything you have at this very moment in time? Perhaps you could follow Jesus in your life and practice much more closely than you have been.
Most of us, I’m sure, didn’t have God on our Christmas list of people to get a gift for. But do not fear, it’s not too late. You can do it now. Make this Christmas extra special for the God who made you, for the Savior who loves you.
Ponder these verses as you consider what to bring to the King today.
Deuteronomy 4:29 NASB
Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all my commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their sons forever!
Roman 12:1 NIV
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Psalm 50:14-15 NLT
“What I want instead is your true thanks to God; I want you to fulfill your vows to the Most High. Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you and you will give me glory.”
Make this song your Christmas prayer this morning.
May you have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
