MY MEETING WITH GOD
Psalm 42:4 NIV
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God! When can I go and meet with God?
Let me tell you a BIG secret! I do not have quiet times! I haven’t had quiet times in decades! I have meetings with God! My meetings with God are loud, emotional, authentic, life sustaining, personal, powerful, deeply meaningful, comforting, therapeutic, enlightening, and I cannot imagine my day without them!
Over the last 48 years I have encountered so many Christians who completely miss this understanding of our faith. Many go through the motions of religiosity, doing their duty, sitting in a chair with their Bible for a quiet time. Usually it doesn’t last too long, nor do much for them, and soon they forget what it was all about. Many others are hit and miss. They have a few, miss a few, this becomes the habit of their lives.
I want to challenge and encourage you to embrace an entirely different perspective. One that would alter the rest of your life. It’s a game changer to embrace the reality of Psalm 42. When you rise each day eager to meet with God, to meet with the person of God, to have an audience with God, the undivided attention of God, the soul quenching presence of God, to know you’re going to share with God all that’s on your heart and mind, assured that God will comfort and sustain you, carry the heavy loads for you, strengthen and encourage you, speak wisdom and insights to you, and answer all your prayers, this my friends changes everything.
I honestly can’t live, or effectively function without my meetings with God. I can’t survive without them. Of course I deeply value my time reading God’s word. I value it because God speaks to me! God himself meets me there, giving me light, hope, sustenance, breathing life and strength into my spirit. God himself shares His great wisdom with me, He inspires my thoughts and ideas. I do not worship the book. I worship, praise, thank, listen to, and meet with the God who wrote the book! Never forget, we do not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
My friends, it’s time to embrace a whole new reality. It’s time to truly believe you can’t survive a day without meeting with God! It’s time to recognize your own desperate need to emotionally, spiritually, personally connect with the living God each and every day of your life. To talk with Him in an honest, animated, emotive, authentic manner that represents a real encounter with the living God. Like a little child eager to tell their father all about their day, tell their stories, their problems, their struggles too, because they know they are in the presence of their father who loves them, cares about them, and can help them with it all.
When was the last time you genuinely felt like you met with God?
I want to ask you personally, please take the time and listen to these two messages. As you hear them honestly ask yourself: Is this my Christian experience? Is this my authentic Christian belief?
